Competition Rules

Competition images may be entered in any of the following categories:

Colour prints

 Monochrome prints

Projected Images.

Members only may enter images into competition and may enter a total of 3 images in any one category or spread over all categories. Visitors may, if they wish, have any work assessed by the judge but will not receive any merit awards. Images must have been created within two years of the date of the competition – the focus is on what members are doing now rather than what they have done in the past.

Judges, in assessing the images, may award either a Distinction [5 points] or a Credit [3 points]. Entries in the Projected Images Category are pre-assessed. Points are accumulated over the year’s competitions towards the Photographer Of The Year Award. Images receiving awards may not be re-entered in any future competitions even if reworked. These images may however be entered in the Image Of The Year competition provided the image has not been altered in any way.

All prints in the Colour and Monochrome categories must be mounted [and preferably matted] on cardboard or foam core board. Unmounted prints or framed prints will not be accepted into competition. Good presentation is a fundamental part of showing your work – if you are proud of your work you should try to present it well.

The author’s name and the title of the image must be shown on the reverse side of the printed images.

There are generally at least seven competitions each year either open themed or set subject themes. An Image Of The Year Competition is held in December each year, in conjunction with the Photographer Of The Year Award.
